My path

Why I'm here

Portrait of Elena Stavraki.
  1. At 10

I was diagnosed with a developmental hormonal condition.

  2. At 15

Choosing between teaching and pharmacy, I chose to study pharmacy, and finished at 22.

  3. At 21

My gynaecologist told me I would be on hormone therapy for life unless I became pregnant. I saw a psychologist for the first time and had 11 sessions.

  4. At 23

I decided to stop the hormone therapy. I started lifting weights. I started working as a pharmacist. I did coaching and NLP for 8 months. I changed 5 gynaecologists in 4 years.

  5. At 24

I studied homeopathy and had homeopathic treatment for 8 months.

  6. At 25

I began Kung Fu and Tai Chi and kept it up for 5 years. I became vegetarian.

  7. At 26

I began my research master's in pharmacy; it took 3 years. I started therapy with a mental health counsellor, for 5 years.

  8. At 29

I left everything. I began my studies in synthetic counselling. It felt like home. I spoke and I was understood easily.

  9. At 31

I received my diploma (by COSCA) and continued into synthetic psychotherapy. I began individual sessions. The people who came, stayed and changed. I took all my leave and went to Belgium to study macrobiotic nutrition. I did my first Vipassana meditation retreat. I began a new cycle of personal psychotherapy.

  10. At 34

I completed my training in synthetic psychotherapy, keeping trauma therapy, systemic and art psychotherapy close to me.

  11. The body is an ecosystem holding every organ — brain, heart, digestive system — and the more conscious I am, the more wisely I choose and care for myself.

Training & experience

I studied pharmacy and completed my MSc before turning to synthetic counselling (COSCA) and psychotherapy. The journey taught me that mental and physical health are not separate conversations.
